Authentication Information: We use Google Authentication solely to verify your identity when you sign up or log in to our App. This includes collecting basic profile information like your Google-linked email address and name. We do not access or store any additional information from your Google account beyond what is necessary for authentication.

Profile Information: You may provide additional information for your profile, such as a short bio and profile picture. Your first name, last name, country, language, and user-written bio are used for display purposes only and will be shown to other users on the app. Country and language are only for display on the profile page so other travelers can see it and connect over shared countries and languages.

Chat and Messaging Information: We collect information about the group chats and direct messages you participate in, including the content of messages, timestamps, and read statuses. This information is only used for enhancing user experience and improving our services.

Device Information: We collect information about the device you use to access our App, including the device type, operating system, and unique device identifiers. 

Usage Information: We collect information about how you use our App, including access times, pages viewed, and the duration of use.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect for various purposes, including:

• To provide, maintain, and improve our Services.
• To facilitate communication between users.
• To send you notifications and updates. Notifications are sent only for new messages in group chats and direct messages that the user joins. These can be changed in the user's phone settings.
• To monitor and analyze trends, usage, and activities.
• To detect, prevent, and address technical issues and security threats.
• To send marketing communications, including news, app updates, and new features, to users who have consented to receive them. Users may unsubscribe from these communications at any time by following the instructions provided in each email.

Service Providers: We may share your information with third-party service providers who perform services on our behalf, such as hosting and data analysis. These service providers include, but are not limited to:

• Firebase: We use Firebase for our backend services, including data storage, authentication, and messaging. Firebase is provided by Google and adheres to their privacy and security policies.
• Expo Go: We use Expo Go for building and running our mobile application. Expo Go may have access to certain device information as part of its functionality.

Legal Requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to valid requests by public authorities (e.g., a court or government agency).

Protection of Rights: We may disclose your information to protect our rights, property, or safety, and the rights, property, and safety of our users or others.

However, please be aware that no security measures are perfect or impenetrable, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.
